It has been arranged for Eric from the TX VHF-FM society to come to San Antonio to speak to us and hold a question and answer session regarding the pending band plan changes to the VHF band. The Texas VHF-FM Society has had a proposal to modify the Texas band plan since 2008. Details of the proposal can be found at their website here.

We have secured a large class room for this meeting at the Red Cross. We need everyone who is concerned about losing VHF simplex freq to come to this meeting and voice your concerns. Eric will be traveling a great distance (from Houston area) and taking time away from his family to meet with the hams in our area. We will make sure everything is in order and ready to go when he arrives.

Mark Lacy (W5TXR) will be the MC for the night. Mark will make a quick introduction of area club leaders, ARRL reps & explain the rules of courtesy (If any)and then turn the floor over to Eric for the remainder of the evening.

COME EARLY!  THE MEETING WILL START ON TIME!

SPREAD THE WORD TO YOUR FRIENDS A SOLID LARGE TURN OUT IS NEEDED TO GET OUR VOICE HEARD!

No trees were killed in the creation of this message. However many electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

More info about proposed change is shown below this link….

Proposed Band Plan Change:

This proposal to modify the Standards of Frequency Coordination was presented to the general membership at the Winter meeting on March 1, 2008 . The membership accepted the proposal, and it was postponed by the President, Rusty Herman, KB5R, until the Vested members can be polled in writing for agreement or non-agreement with the proposal. The process for changing a band plan is slow and deliberate by design.

What is the exact wording of the proposal?

146.450 – 146.490 MHz, High in/low out, 1 MHz offset, 12.5 kHz channel spacing or less, any digital voice/data air interface technology suitable for the Amateur Radio Service that is compatible with the channel spacing. No analog transmission permitted.

What is the existing band plan?

The existing 2 meter band plan is shown below.
