W2IK- NNN0KSI – NNN0GBY2, from San Antonio, Texas, will be donating 150 copies of his amateur radio emergency communications training course (on CD) so they may be given out at EmComm East, held in Rochester, New York in early October 2009.
In the past, he has given out hundreds of copies of this training guide, for free, to dozens of clubs, including REACT and ARES groups throughout the country and Canada, Pacificon 2008 (held in California last year), as well as two special emergency antennas of his design and plans, and authoring a special “white paper” for Communications Academy 2007 as per their request when health problems prevented him from giving a lecture.
He will also be donating one of his VHF emergency antenna kits to this event as a free raffle.
“Amateur radio operators pride themselves on the ability to get the message through, “when all else fails” during a disaster. Amateur Radio Emergency Communications (or EmComm) plays an important role in helping disaster relief organizations communicate when land lines, cell phones, and other traditional modes of communication become overloaded or fail.”
“EmComm East is an ARRL-sanctioned amateur radio emergency communications conference, where amateur radio operators involved in EmComm can attend training sessions on technical topics, learn from served agencies, obtain VE testing for license upgrades, and interact with other EmComm operators from all over the area.”

Please advise the cost to obtain a copy of your EmComm training course CD. A very large HLS full scale exercise was recently conducted in SD. The Pierre Amateur Radio Club (PARC) along with other state wide clubs was activated and present, but was excluded from actual events. I feel we first need to educate ourselves and in turn others of EmComm capabilities. The desire to serve is evident statewide, but the opportunity is not always there. Thank you for your assistance in our endeavor. KC0WVF
