Plano HamCom 2009 – Day 1 Report (Part 1 of 2)

Friday, June 12th was Day 1 of the 2009 HamCom event in Plano, TX.    www.HamCom.org is their web site.

Al KE6LGE and Lee N5NTG rode up and stayed there in the comfort of Al’s RV, parked outside the conference center in the shaded area of the parking lot.

This is the same RV we used last month for Net Control of the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure bicycle event from San Antonio to San Marcos to Austin on May 30th and 31st.

The paved parking lots got filled early and by the end of the day about 1/3 of the grass overflow field was filled. Only about 2/3 of the designated outdoor tailgate area was in use Friday, but the indoor section was preffy crowded, and there were 46 commercial vendors on display, including the 4 major radio manufacturers Kenwood, Icom, Yaesu and Alinco.

I walked around a lot, spent some $$ in the process (oops, don’t tell the wife) and took bunches of photos.  Here are a few of the photos I took to share with the visitors to this blog…
