Paris, Tx — Amateur “ham” radio and electronic hobbyists will attend the 6th annual Paris Texas Hamfest Friday October 8 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday October 9, 8 til noon, at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds located at 570 e center st.

A “Hamfest” is a gathering of radio hobbyists from all over the country who take part in discussions, check out the latest equipment and ideas. In addition to used equipment being bought and sold by individuals, dealers will also be on hand with new radio and computer gadgetry for sale. Admission is $2.
Tables for vendors are still available. To reserve a table, call Richard Lenoir at 903-737-0773 or 903-669-9059.

Official examinations will be offered for anyone wanting to obtain a new or upgraded Amateur Radio License from the Federal Communications Commission. Applications must be at the site no later than 9:00 a.m. Pre-registration is not necessary, but applicants must present two forms of acceptable identification including one picture ID. Applicants must bring the original of any ham license they currently have.

Doors open to the public at 5:00 PM Friday Night (we are cooking again this year!) Doors close to the main hall at 9:00PM. Bring a guitar or your favorite instrument for some picking and grinning under the stars.

ARBONET-4 Info
The launch of ARBONET-4 will take place on Saturday October 9th, 2010 from the Paris , TX Hamfest ( www.paristexasradio.com ) . The Paris hamfest will be held at the Lamar County Fairgrounds, 570 East Center Street, Paris, TX 75460 .

The ARBONET-4 launch is planned for 9:00 AM from the parking area of the fairgrounds. ARBONET-4, the fourth in the ARBONET series of High Altitude Balloon flights will be a demonstration and training flight utilizing beacons on three different amateur bands: 6 meters, 2 meters and 70 centimeters.
