{"id":7183,"date":"2014-03-24T11:51:56","date_gmt":"2014-03-24T16:51:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=7183"},"modified":"2014-03-24T11:53:14","modified_gmt":"2014-03-24T16:53:14","slug":"new-calendar-of-events-added","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=7183","title":{"rendered":"New Calendar of Events Added"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2904\" alt=\"calendar\" src=\"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/calendar.jpg\" width=\"202\" height=\"173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/calendar.jpg 202w, https:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/calendar-200x171.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 202px) 100vw, 202px\" \/><strong>I&#8217;ve replaced the older calendar of events application that I had been using, with a new version.<\/strong>\u00a0 I feel the new version will be easier and more intuitive for users to add their own events to the calendar.\u00a0 All users, who have been bumped higher than the default &#8220;subscriber&#8221; level, should be able to add their own events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>With this new version, if you have a repetitive event (like a monthly meeting, etc.),<\/strong> you can create\u00a0the first\u00a0event, then return back to that event and change the date and click the &#8220;COPY&#8221; button at the bottom of the input screen.\u00a0 That will duplicate the entry and place it on the date chosen.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve started entering dates for most of the local ham clubs, but it becomes such mind boring \/ dumbing work after awhile, that I took a break.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll resume when I have some more spare time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I will be adding in future public service events<\/strong> as well as posting the info to the BLOG area (where you are reading this article).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Volunteers are always needed<\/strong>, so don&#8217;t hesitate about raising your hand. Prior experience is not a requirement, as we all started out with the same amount of experience in the beginning, that being &#8220;none&#8221;.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll place you in a position or with another more experienced ham, according to your comfort level and equipment abilities.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>For example, some events will allow the use of an HT without problems, others won&#8217;t<\/strong>.\u00a0 Some require mobile radio operation for stronger signal \/ power. Some events require the use of both VHF and UHF frequencies at the same time, such as SAG Van driver teams during the local\u00a0Tour de Cure (coming up on\u00a0May 10th) or the Valero Alamo Ride to the River (October 11-12th).\u00a0\u00a0 The Fiesta Wildflower 100 ride (April 27th &#8211; no SAG vans used)\u00a0may require the use of mobile radios.\u00a0 The American Hero 25k Relay run (May 25th) will require mobile radios for support because it will be held this year on the south side of San Antonio, on the campus of Texas A&amp;M University &#8211; San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any problems with posting events, please contact the webmaster at <a href=\"mailto:info@sanantoniohams.org\">info@sanantoniohams.org<\/a> or call me at 210-771-7075 (voice\/text).
