The Austin\/San Antonio National Weather Service Office is committed to participating in the event, as has been in past years!
\nOur station has consistently improved our standing each year utilizing VHF\/UHF, HF, IRLP, Echolink and various Digital modes!<\/p>\n

All Currently Licensed Amateur Radio Operators are invited to participate during this years event. One does not need to be Skywarn trained to participate, but it could be helpful should and activation occur!<\/p>\n

During the 24 hour event, we schedule up to 3 operators per 2 hour block of time to operate the station.<\/p>\n

The best time slots fill up fast, although, some of the hottest activity has been from midnite local to 0400,\u00a0 so if you would like to participate, please contact Louis Upton – K5STX @ k5stx@yahoo.com to reserve a slot.<\/p>\n

Yes, you may volunteer to operate for more than one 2 hour time slot, and many operators usually do!<\/p>\n

Notes:
\nSince our station is located on the main operations floor of the NWS Office, we are limited to 3 operators at any given time.
\nOperators are encouraged to bring their own headphones to minimize noise on the operating floor.
\nOccasionally with pre-approval visitors come in for a tour of the offices and observe the operations during the event.
\nOnly operators and visitors on the list will be allowed to enter the NWS Office and must be prepared to show proper identification.
\nAlso, should a Weather event occur that requires the activation of the Skywarn team, operations will shift to that task!<\/p>\n

The Staff at the Austin\/San Antonio National Weather Service Office also does a great job of keeping plenty of snacks and hot coffee available during the event.
\nWho knows what else may show up in the break room!<\/p>\n
