{"id":6296,"date":"2012-07-13T14:02:22","date_gmt":"2012-07-13T20:02:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=6296"},"modified":"2016-04-11T07:10:59","modified_gmt":"2016-04-11T12:10:59","slug":"hams-wanted-boeing-global-services-support-san-antonio-tx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=6296","title":{"rendered":"Hams Wanted &#8211; Boeing Global Services &#038; Support, San Antonio, TX"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">If you are a Ham Radio Operator and work for Boeing, then\u00a0BACS Wants You!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Boeing Auxiliary Communications Service (BACS) is a team of employees and contractors who are FCC-licensed amateur radio (\u201cham\u201d) operators<\/strong>, who provide backup communications when normal channels become damaged or overloaded due to natural or man-made disasters.BACS is a Boeing Enterprise S&amp;FP Disaster Preparedness Org. and is the only official ham radio organization that supports Boeing S&amp;FP DP.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BACS primary task is to provide Emergency Communications,<\/strong> using Amateur Radio Frequencies to communicate from Boeing site EOC\u2019s to Boeing site EOC\u2019s during a disaster. Secondarily, provide emergency communications between local government authorities and local Boeing site EOC\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other duties may include but are not limited to (depending on your sites needs):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supporting Volunteer Disaster Responders (VDRs), facilities personnel, and anyone else responsible for protecting lives and property at Boeing.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cShadowing\u201d fire and security personnel.<\/li>\n<li>If needed, field communications.<\/li>\n<li>Operate company radios during all three phases of a disaster.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>BACS teams are all ready operating at Boeing sites around the country. Including; Enterprise ECMC and 14 other sites in Washington\/Oregon, California, Texas, Utah, Alabama. More are coming on line as they learn about us.<\/p>\n<p>This is your opportunity to use your amateur radio skills to protect yourself and your coworkers in an emergency. All you need are your ham license (technician or higher) handheld radio, and a desire to help.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t have a team at your site?? We can help with that too.
