Park to be announced before the competition to pre-registered teams.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>Teams:<\/strong> Teams, made up of 4 people each, will compete to see\u00a0which team\u00a0can set up an operational communications (Jump Team) site and make 5 HF contacts in the least amount of time and in the proper manner. <\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong>Competition:<\/strong> Teams would be required to properly:<\/div>\n<p>Erect a 6 man sleeping tent and a \u201ctoilet tent\u201d (this includes ground tarp and rain tarp.)<\/p>\n<div>Erect an operations area (canopy) with chairs and tables and radio gear.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Erect a food prep canopy with tables, chairs, stove, cooking supplies.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Erect one\u00a040 meter \u201cInverted V\u201d antenna with coax back to the operations area with proper\u00a0hazard flagging.<\/div>\n<div><!--more--><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Assemble\u00a0one HF\u00a0station powered by deep-cycle batteries.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Assemble\u00a02 solar panel assemblies and charge at least one deep-cycle battery.\u00a0(2 panels to charge batteries)<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Filter\u00a010 gallons of water (as part of the setup responsibilities)<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Cook\u00a0a simple meal\u00a0in the food-prep area (enough to feed 4 people lunch)<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Make at least 5 HF contacts on 40 meters SSB\u00a0to stations outside our immediate area<\/div>\n<div>with proper logging of contacts made. (paper log)<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>(Communications will begin only after <strong>all<\/strong> the setups have been accomplished)<\/div>\n<div>(Cooking not included as a requirement to begin communications)<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Judges will determine when all setups have been completed.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Disassemble all shelters and\u00a0gear, clean all food handling and cooking \u201cstuff\u201d and properly put them back into their storage boxes, fill out logging paperwork and submit to judges.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>This competition\u00a0is\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0limited to any group or organization. Any 4 people, such as a scout group,\u00a0who have at least one licensed ham (General class or above) can compete. <strong>They will all be using the same equipment and gear supplied by the Bexar Operators Group.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>I estimate\u00a0about 60 minutes for each competing team\u00a0to complete their \u201crun\u201d.<strong> Pictures will be taken and a report, in article form, will be submitted to the ARRL<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>A reference website concerning this type of operations may be found at:<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #f85702;\">Emergency Communications Teams<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>At this time, we have at least two teams: Chaparral ARC (CARC) and Hill Country REACT (HCR)\u00a0signed up\u00a0to compete in this competition which is slated to take place on September 5th. Bob Rod, Lee Besing and myself have agreed to be the judges. I am hoping that others, especially local emcomm\u00a0groups or radio clubs,\u00a0will assemble 4 members to\u00a0compete.
