\"\"BEXAR OPERATORS GROUP announces the 2010 version of it’s “Jump Team Boot Camp” which will be held on May 14 – 16th. This year’s event is a full three days.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n

This would be the\u00a0fourth \u201cJump Team Boot Camp\u201d given by the Bexar Operators Group.<\/strong> It would be a\u00a0three day\u00a0deployment event at a site yet to be disclosed. This \u201cJump Team Boot Camp\u201d will concentrate on amateur radio and the ways and means to get a\u00a0communications jump team\u00a0operational should there be a need to deploy some distance from your home\u00a0and communicate in the aftermath of a disaster when nothing is left standing. Learn what other groups don’t teach. This is a complete “hands on” class.<\/p>\n

Just like\u00a0previous sessions given by the Bexar Operators Group, this will be an actual drive-and-operate operation and NOT a desktop drill.<\/strong> When the destination has been reached, all participants will assist in the construction of shelters and operating areas after being prepped on procedures.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We will be teaching the proper way to do\u00a0the all-important\u00a0site evaluation<\/strong> before any structure or antenna\u00a0is erected in order to avoid problems which could be encountered should weather take a turn for the worse (additional rains and\/or high winds). We will be supplying energy to operate using\u00a0two types of power: gas generation and solar generation with instruction on the set up and safe\u00a0operation\u00a0each system.<\/p>\n

Since it is important that every Jump Team member have a firm grasp\u00a0of all aspects of setting up and operating during an emergency<\/strong>, special emphasis will be placed on the logical sequence of setting up (structures, power and antennas),\u00a0 meeting nutritional requirements (basic cooking and meal planning),\u00a0 station operation and message logging\/handling\u00a0and band propagation.<\/p>\n

Attendees will also be given a 100+ page work\/reference book<\/strong> to better prepare them if they need to create a jump team for their own communications group. This book is the first and only one of it’s kind covering jump team operation and safety.<\/p>\n
