The Austin Summerfest event actually starts on Friday evening, 08\/07, with outdoor tailgating in the parking lot, and lots of social interaction.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Admission is $10\/person at the door on Saturday. No admission charge for the outdoor portion of the event.\u00a0\u00a0 Website is found at http:\/\/www.austinsummerfest.info\/<\/a>\u00a0. \"Marriott_Austin_South_Airport\"\u00a0<\/p>\n

Talk-in will be done on the Austin 146.94 repeater, negative offset as normal. Please note that it\u00a0uses a tone of 107.2, but tone is not required.<\/p>\n

Location is on the south side of Austin, TX, in a new hotel (not same location as previous year), the Austin Marriott Airport South at 4415 South IH 35, on the northbound side of IH-35, just before you get to St. Elmo.\u00a0 There are 5 hotels in a row, but this is the hotel on the north end of that grouping.\u00a0 Here is a MapQuest<\/a> map to the\u00a0new\u00a0location.<\/p>\n

Hospitality Room – Event Sponsored on 5th Floor<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>In the meantime, local San Antonio Hams, Shane NS5D and Chuck WB5FWI<\/strong>, are doing their annual “thing” by hosting an informal hospitality room for ARES members (and probably almost any other ham that finds the room) inside the\u00a0Marriot.<\/p>\n

Sorry for the crossposting but important info if you’re attending the Austin Summerfest this weekend and wish to go to the ever-popular Hospitality Suite.<\/div>\n
2009’s Summerfest Hospitality will be in the Concierge Lounge (essentially the entire the 5th floor).\u00a0 It is only accessible by using the center elevator, which goes to rooms and the 5th floor. The left elevator goes to rooms only and the right elevator goes to the parking garage. There will be a radio and table provided for volunteer Talk-In NCS’s comfort.\u00a0<\/div>\n
Main talk-in on 146.94(-) and 444.1(+)<\/div>\n
There’s much more room and no way to “lock the door” during off-times, so we will have someone in the Suite at all times.<\/div>\n

Once again, Chuck WB5FWI and I will be hosting an unofficial South Texas ARES hospitality suite at Summerfest on Friday, August 7th, from 4pm to 8pm. Appetizers, sodas and brewskies (be prepared to show id if you look underage)\u00a0will be served.<\/div>\n

This is your chance to meet your ARES counterparts from other districts and compare notes in a very relaxed, friendly environment. RACES, MARS, REACT, other EMCOMM groups and unaffiliated hams are also welcome.<\/div>\n

I will leave the room number with the Summerfest talk-in on the day of, and will also instruct the front desk to give it out. Ask for “ARES hospitality suite”. We’ll also be listening on 446.175 simplex.<\/div>\n
