{"id":1888,"date":"2009-07-05T19:52:44","date_gmt":"2009-07-06T01:52:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=1888"},"modified":"2009-07-05T21:52:48","modified_gmt":"2009-07-06T03:52:48","slug":"jota-2009-canyon-lake-dam-october-17-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=1888","title":{"rendered":"JOTA 2009 &#8211; Canyon Lake Dam October 17-18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Under the direction of Mike, AB5EB,\u00a0another JOTA (Jamboree On The Air) operation is scheduled to take place this October at the\u00a0Overlook Point near the Canyon Lake dam in Texas to\u00a0show scouts\u00a0what amateur radio\u00a0is all about.\u00a0Planning will show\u00a0the diversity of amateur radio as scouts talk to other scouts from all over the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The amateur radio operators, featuring Mike, AB5EB, Carlos, KE5DFK, Bob, W2IK, and others\u00a0are ready to set up and operate several stations\u00a0 using several modes, such as voice, morse code (CW), digital and slow-scan television. Additional hams who would like to be a part in helping out scouts should contact Mike at: <a href=\"mailto:ab5ebdxer@gmail.com\">ab5ebdxer@gmail.com<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Other events\u00a0will be \u00a0offered such as two of W2IK&#8217;s &#8220;McGyver&#8221;\u00a0antenna building sessions where scouts build actual antennas from scrap materials and use them to make contacts.\u00a0A merit badge class given by Mike, AB5EB might also be planned. Still in it&#8217;s planning stages, Mike wants this JOTA to be even better than the event held last year at this location where over 70 scouts attended.
