Also, it is consistent with the action taken by the University Interscholastic League (UIL).<\/p>\n<p><em>{Photo from 2008 San Antonio Special Olympics Spring Games Opening Ceremony in San Antonio, Area 20 &#8211; Lee}<!--more--><\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Keeping the best interests of our athletes, volunteers and families in mind, we know this is a disappointing but necessary step given the circumstances,&#8221; said Margaret Larsen, President and CEO of Special Olympics Texas.\u00a0 &#8220;The health and safety of our Special Olympics Texas family\u00a0is our first priority.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Eight scheduled Spring Games will be canceled:<\/strong> Houston (Area 4), Wichita Falls (Area 9), Dallas (Area 10), Waco (Area 12), Amarillo (Area 16), San Antonio (Area 20), Laredo (Area 21) and Gulf Coast (Area 22). Due to the planning and preparation involved, the Games will not be rescheduled.
