{"id":7562,"date":"2016-04-05T23:52:02","date_gmt":"2016-04-06T04:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=7562"},"modified":"2016-04-05T23:52:02","modified_gmt":"2016-04-06T04:52:02","slug":"hams-needed-for-may-14th-2016-tour-de-cure-ride-in-san-antonio-pleasanton-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=7562","title":{"rendered":"Hams Needed for May 14th (2016) Tour de Cure Ride in San Antonio \/ Pleasanton area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This year&#8217;s San Antonio American Diabetes Association\u00a0Tour de Cure bicycle event on May\u00a014, 2016,\u00a0will once again\u00a0start \/ end\u00a0at the Texas A&amp;M University, located on the\u00a0south side of San Antonio, near Loop 410 and University Way \/\u00a0 Zarzamora Rd\u00a0 (outside the loop).\u00a0 The start\/finish line will be on the interior road\u00a0just north of the primary\u00a0building cluster as usual.\u00a0 There will be multiple distance routes, with the shorter length routes splitting off to return\u00a0to the finish line sooner.\u00a0 The 100+ plus mile\u00a0route is the most challenging, heading out toward Elmendorf before dropping south to Pleasanton and then curving up thru Poteet and near Somerset\u00a0before returning to the finish line.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Last year we had nearly 1,200 riders.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wa5ar.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Atascosa County Amateur Radio Club<\/a> were the first to volunteer to help us out once again. Thanks<\/p>\n<p>Ham Radio operators are needed to staff 9-10 rest stops, plus provide\u00a0net control back at the University.\u00a0\u00a0 We may use a personal vehicle or two as turtle vehicles (using APRS if possible),\u00a0plus 10\u00a0primary SAG vans\/trucks\u00a0which need to\u00a0be ham radio operator equipped or driven for this event.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers get a free t-shirt.\u00a0 SAG Vans are provided and fuel is provided, so no money for fuel or rent will be out of pocket for the drivers.
