{"id":7230,"date":"2014-05-01T13:20:28","date_gmt":"2014-05-01T18:20:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=7230"},"modified":"2014-05-01T13:26:31","modified_gmt":"2014-05-01T18:26:31","slug":"battle-of-the-bands-report-april-24-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=7230","title":{"rendered":"Battle of the Bands Report &#8211; April 24, 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of SARO and other hams\u00a0helped out again at the annual Battle of the Bands Festival, sponsored by the Battle of Flowers Parade organization.\u00a0\u00a0 SARO was the coordinating club for communication shadows at this event.<\/p>\n<p>The following 7 hams worked this event&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Joe Bruno, W5AUQ &#8211; Announcer Shadow<\/li>\n<li>Eric Olson, WB5ZJQ &#8211; Dignitary Entrance Shadow<\/li>\n<li>Sharon Olson, KB5KZD &#8211; Band Starter Shadow<\/li>\n<li>Wendell Peters, AA5VN &#8211; Producer Shadow<\/li>\n<li>MaryAnne Horn, N5MYN &#8211; Operations Shadow<\/li>\n<li>David Besing, KD5MTJ &#8211; Medical Shadow<\/li>\n<li>Lee Besing, N5NTG &#8211; Security Shadow<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I took some photos and video of the event, but haven&#8217;t had time to do any editing of the video.\u00a0 But I did find out the organizers posted the full length video from the event on YouTube (was supposed to be on Ustream.tv), so you can now watch it there. I&#8217;ve been told that I was spotted in the video out on the north end of the field taking my own videos. Blossom Athletic complex) near Jones Maltsberger and Starcrest Drive. The show was sold out of reserved seat tickets ($8) prior to the start, and the cheap seat tickets ($3\u00a0seated on east side bleachers in stadium, no shade from sun) were sold out within 30 minutes after the event started.<\/p>\n<p>The bands faced the reserved seat bleachers (west side of stadium) and that was the side that had shade from the hot sun (was in the mid 90&#8217;s) prior to sunset.\u00a0 (Hint &#8211; If you are paying to go see this event next year, buy reserved seating tickets\u00a0in section D or E).<\/p>\n<p>We had several medical calls affecting band members; asthma attack, muscle cramps, sprained hand (twirler), but nobody had to be transported off the premises for treatment.
