{"id":6263,"date":"2012-07-09T20:13:10","date_gmt":"2012-07-10T02:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=6263"},"modified":"2012-07-09T20:18:20","modified_gmt":"2012-07-10T02:18:20","slug":"austin-san-antonio-nws-office-now-on-twitter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=6263","title":{"rendered":"Austin &#8211; San Antonio NWS Office Now On Twitter!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6267\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" title=\"NWS_Logo_sm\" src=\"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/NWS_Logo_sm.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/NWS_Logo_sm.png 240w, http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/NWS_Logo_sm-200x200.png 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/>South Central Texas Partners&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio TX office is now officially on Twitter.\u00a0 Our first official tweet came out this morning, Monday, July 9th.\u00a0 Like anything new we will have some growing pains as we take on this social media giant.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2>Follow us @NWSSanAntonio<\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As of right now our Twitter page is not set up to be a &#8220;warning&#8221; tool.\u00a0 That may change in the future&#8230;but as of right now we will be placing graphics, outlooks, and links that you will hopefully find interesting and useful.\u00a0 We are also looking to\u00a0 utilize twitter for getting storm reports, damage pix, etc.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>And just as a side note&#8230;\u00a0<\/strong> while we are not expecting widespread severe weather over the next few days, daily thunderstorm chances will bring the risk of urban and small stream flooding, lightning, and gusty thunderstorm winds&#8230;all of which can bring injuries and fatalities.\u00a0 Case in point&#8230;North Texas this weekend.\u00a0 2 persons were killed at UT-Arlington when a crane was toppled by thunderstorm winds.\u00a0 Boater was killed on Lake Lewisville when his boat was overturned by storm winds.\u00a0 A paddle boarder from White Rock Lake is still missing and presumed dead, due to choppy waters brought on by thunderstorm winds.<\/p>\n<p>There have been 3 lightning fatalities in the past week across the United States&#8230;1 on the beach, 1 in the back yard of a home&#8230;the other in a front yard of a home.<\/p>\n<p>At 7:50pm tonight, we received confirmed reports of pea sized to half inch diameter hail (0.50&#8243;) in the Universal City area.
