A special based-loaded antenna balun (4:1)\u00a0has been obtained for easier antenna matching. The ground radial system will have at least 4 full sized wires with possibly more.<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0will also make a determination, based upon weather conditions and the number of people assisting,\u00a0to use this vertical just for transmit and use a &#8220;beverage antenna&#8221; for receive and\/or increase the vertical antenna height to <strong>252<\/strong> feet\u00a0so we can better compete during this &#8220;top band&#8221; event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two,\u00a09 foot meteorological balloons have been purchased for this experiment,<\/strong> just in case we screw up with the first &#8220;flight&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Helium tanks will be purchased close to the flight-date.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Pictures of the step-by-step\u00a0antenna setup and station operation will be taken for article submission in either &#8220;QST&#8221; or &#8220;CQ&#8221; magazine. \u00a0<\/p>\n<div><!--more--><\/div>\n<p><strong>If any local ham wishes to join us<\/strong>, please write to:\u00a0 <a title=\"mailto:W2IK@ARRL.NET\" href=\"mailto:W2IK@ARRL.NET\">W2IK@ARRL.NET<\/a>\u00a0<strong>asap<\/strong> so we can give you more information as the contest date nears and can make arrangements\u00a0for added experimentation based upon additional help at the site.<\/p>\n<p>We will be reserving <strong>one<\/strong> cabin (and supplying heat, food and drink).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The cabin can sleep about\u00a06-8 people and 4 slots are already taken\u00a0so it&#8217;s a &#8220;first come &#8211; first served&#8221; event. \u00a0<\/p>\n<div>73 Bob W2IK<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On February 26th (2200Z) until February 28th (2200Z) The Bexar Operators Group, W5BOG,\u00a0will be\u00a0operating\u00a0from the Choke Canyon State Park, located in Calliham just west of Three Rivers, Texas,\u00a0in the sheltered (cabin) area.
