200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>On the morning of Saturday, November 21st, Gary K5GST and Lee N5NTG took a field trip up to New Braunfels,<\/strong> having breakfast with members of the Guadalupe Valley Amateur Radio Club at their favorite restaurant, Los Gallos on Loop 337 near Commons Street.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>After stuffing ourselves on some very excellent Mexican breakfast\u00a0food, we poured ourselves into Gary&#8217;s truck and headed further north on IH-35, looking for the San Marcos Public Library on East Hopkins Street.<\/strong>\u00a0 This was the location of a meeting for the Hayes Caldwell Hams, a group of hams who has been very active in our\u00a0recent Hurricane Evacuation Drills.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 They were showing a movie from CQ Magazine about Ham Radio, produced in 1994, before the spread of the Internet and Email addresses.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gary addressed the club members on the\u00a0idea of clubs submitting regular\u00a0news articles thru ARRL and local news media<\/strong>, with intent of educating the general public about Amateur Radio.\u00a0 Gary was recently\u00a0appointed\u00a0to be an assistant Public Information Officer for the ARRL regions of Texas here in\u00a0South Texas.\u00a0\u00a0 He has been spreading the word to all local ham clubs, that they should designate one or more persons to take photos, write up stories, and basically provide materials that could be submitted to ARRL and local news media outlets.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style type=\"text\/css\">\n\t\t\t#gallery-1
