{"id":3364,"date":"2009-10-14T09:15:36","date_gmt":"2009-10-14T15:15:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=3364"},"modified":"2016-04-11T07:14:11","modified_gmt":"2016-04-11T12:14:11","slug":"2009-alamo-ride-to-the-river-33min-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=3364","title":{"rendered":"2009 Alamo Ride to the River &#8211; 33min Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-462\" title=\"ms150_2009_alamo_to_the_river2\" src=\"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/ms150_2009_alamo_to_the_river2.jpg\" alt=\"ms150_2009_alamo_to_the_river2\" width=\"185\" height=\"203\" \/>I&#8217;ve finally completed the promised\u00a0full length\u00a0video that covers both days of the 2009 Valero Alamo Ride to the River, from start to finish.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>This video\u00a0includes footage from 1 other ham, Joe KA1MZY<\/strong>, used to fill in some gaps where I was unable to be in two places at one time.\u00a0 It contains &#8220;live, unedited&#8221; audio tracks from the ham radio featuring traffic between SAG vans and with Net Control.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I also knew that I had &#8220;skipped&#8221; taking photos at BP #1 and BP #3 for some reason.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 So I found some photos from the LaVernia United Methodist Church&#8217;s website for BP #3 (they were the host location for the BP) and have included a few of them in the video.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>BP#1 photos&#8230;.<\/strong> well, I guess that was about the time we started hearing about course closures when I arrived at the BP, and I spent most of my time talking with the BP Hams and the BP Bike repair guy, rather than snapping photos. So, no photos or videos from BP #1 unless someone else took some.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-3370\" title=\"Dairy_Queen_Logo_RGB\" src=\"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Dairy_Queen_Logo_RGB-200x131.jpg\" alt=\"Dairy_Queen_Logo_RGB\" hspace=\"5\" width=\"105\" height=\"88\" \/>BP#3 photos&#8230;<\/strong> it bugged me for quite a while why I couldn&#8217;t even remember visiting BP#3 at all, much less why there weren&#8217;t any photos&#8230;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Then I remembered the welcomed call on the radio from SAG #12 advising that there was a Dairy Queen just past BP#3 on Hwy 87, where the other\u00a0SAG&#8217;s had been taking lunch breaks on an alternating basis.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>I was never there&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-3383\" title=\"DSC06897\" src=\"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/DSC06897-150x200.jpg\" alt=\"DSC06897\" hspace=\"5\" width=\"104\" height=\"131\" \/>Susan &amp; Chuck in SAG#12 offered to relieve me as &#8220;turtle&#8221;<\/strong> (bringing up the rear of the riders), long enough for me and my son to take a break at Dairy Queen in LaVernia. We decided to take time to eat there, use their facilities, etc, and so SAG #12 was the &#8220;turtle&#8221; when BP#3 was reached by the last riders, and when I resumed &#8220;turtle duty&#8221;, it was past BP#3. But I found some photos from the LaVernia United Methodist Church&#8217;s website, and have integrated some of those into this video as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So this video covers both Day 1 and Day 2 events, with a full listing of Ham volunteers (according to Milton&#8217;s report earlier) and other credits.<\/strong> The video is 33 minutes long, about 690mb in size, and exceeded the allowed hosting\u00a0limits of YouTube, because they won&#8217;t accept videos longer than 10 minutes in length.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>I recommend downloading (By right clicking the link(s) below and choosing &#8220;save as&#8221;), then viewing, the video on your computer to avoid buffering delays.\u00a0 Also, the initial audio track from the starting of the race can be a bit loud, so watch the speaker volume\u00a0levels on your computer.<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>3 Choices of Video Format to choose from:<\/h3>\n<p>(Had some &#8220;issues&#8221; (current version is 1.7) which has lots of features and is compatible with most video formats &#8220;as is&#8221;.\u00a0 Sorry, it only runs on Windows, and it didn&#8217;t work well tonight with the projector (which used a USB interface).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0The hi-def AVI version of this video was\u00a0designed to be\u00a0full screen for computer opr TV\u00a0display<\/strong>, suitable (I hope) for use with a projector onto a big screen in a meeting room environment.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;ll be testing that theory tonight at AARO&#8217;s club meeting&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comments &amp;
