{"id":314,"date":"2009-01-23T23:07:07","date_gmt":"2009-01-24T04:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=314"},"modified":"2016-04-11T07:13:13","modified_gmt":"2016-04-11T12:13:13","slug":"bexar-operators-group-w5bog-announces-plans-for-its-2009-field-day-operation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=314","title":{"rendered":"BEXAR OPERATORS GROUP (W5BOG) ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR IT&#8217;S 2009 FIELD DAY OPERATION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font size=\"4\"><span>\u00a0<span id=\"cgroundName\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/tpwd.texas.gov\/state-parks\/lost-maples\">Lost Maples SNA<\/a>\u00a0, in Bandera County north of Vanderpool,\u00a0has been\u00a0chosen as\u00a0the\u00a0location of the &#8220;Bexar Operators Group&#8221; (W5BOG) 2009 Field Day operation.\u00a0 We will be concentrating on &#8220;primitive\u00a0\u00a0camping techniques&#8221;\u00a0along with our\u00a0amateur radio operations. <\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\"><span><span><span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/solarchargerpanels.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"5\" align=\"left\" src=\"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/solarchargerpanels.thumbnail.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" alt=\"Solar Power Charger Panels\" title=\"Solar Power Charger Panels\" \/><\/a><\/span>Our rigs and\u00a0LED lighting systems\u00a0will be powered by several\u00a0solar energy panels and a wind powered turbine\u00a0which will\u00a0charge banks of\u00a0deep-cycle marine batteries, making this a <strong><em>100% &#8220;Green Operation&#8221;.<\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\"><span><span><!--more--><span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/windmillpower.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"5\" align=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/windmillpower.thumbnail.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" alt=\"Wind Power Generator Rig\" title=\"Wind Power Generator Rig\" \/><\/a><\/span>To further\u00a0test our abilities, we will not be using pre-made antennas, but will construct new antennas, on-the-spot, which will be made to suit\u00a0the available physical area\u00a0allowed to us at the park. <\/span><\/span><\/font><font size=\"4\"><span><span>Inquiries about joining our operation,\u00a0our antenna construction plans or solar energy to run equipment and lighting should be sent to <a href=\"mailto:Alonestaryank@aol.com\" title=\"mailto:Alonestaryank@aol.com\">Alonestaryank@aol.com<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/font><font size=\"4\"><span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"4\"><span><span>It is our belief that Field Day should test our ingenuity and ability\u00a0to set up and operate station(s)\u00a0running from unknown locations,\u00a0as would be the case in a real\u00a0emergency, which is why we change our location year after year. (2008 had us operating from the beach on\u00a0Mustang Island, and\u00a0in 2007,\u00a0we operated from\u00a0a park in the\u00a0Three Rivers area.)
