{"id":2659,"date":"2009-08-16T09:12:30","date_gmt":"2009-08-16T15:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=2659"},"modified":"2009-08-16T21:32:04","modified_gmt":"2009-08-17T03:32:04","slug":"hurricane-drill-mars-react-nws-bexar-operators-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sanantoniohams.org\/blog\/?p=2659","title":{"rendered":"HURRICANE DRILL: MARS &#8211; REACT &#8211; NWS &#8211; BEXAR OPERATORS GROUP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Later this month on August 29th<\/strong>, the combined talents of <strong>Navy-Marine Corps MARS<\/strong>, <strong>REACT<\/strong>, <strong>National Weather Service<\/strong>, <strong>Bexar Operators Group<\/strong> and others will work together during a hurricane drill. Information will be passed using both MARS EEI and standard text messaging when a &#8220;hurricane&#8221; landfalls on an area just north of Corpus Christi. We will also have coastal hospitals and Skywarn personnel working the event.\u00a0 The drill is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, August 29th.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>This will be a test of various MOUs and our ability to communicate with each other in case a real weather event should erupt. <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>This is NOT just some &#8220;table top&#8221; drill,<\/strong> as stations will actually\u00a0deploy along the coast and\u00a0along evacuation routes from both Houston and Corpus Christi.
